RECOMMEND A TOPIC
Topics are national problems, of urgent concern to the American People. Describe such a problem, that you find to be widespread in your community, which you believe is also happening across America. Back up any claims or facts used, by naming a valid source on which your statement is based.
Get to the heart of/the underlying cause of the problem. Here are two examples, where the underlying causes are clearly defined:

"AIDS has highlighted the difficulty of delivering antiretroviral drugs to patients in poor countries, thereby focusing world attention on the underlying cause: a lack of effective health care infrastructures." - Lawrence K. Altman, N.Y. Times 1/20/08
Topics getting too little attention in mainstream media are most welcome.
