i think it is imperative that the citizens of the united states be aware of the status of the government. the fact that polititions and lobbyists are more concerned about making money than the actual good of the country, i feel that one person will never make a difference in this subject, but if the people of the United States had better information about what really happens in their government a change could be made, afterall there is power in numbers

Some (not all) people using welfare waste a lot of valuable goverment income on things they are allowed to buy, but do not need.

The amount of money you get taxed is based on the amount of money you make in a year, so technically if your making more money you are being pentalized for it so why work extra hours and weekends if it just means your going to get taxed more.

The American Goverment is going through many changes as of late. With the addition of the new healthcare bill, the goverment seems to be going off the deep end. The new healthcare bill has been a major topic of concern. Some people believe that the bill is harmful to society while other people think that it will help the country greatly. The original version of the bill may not have been a bad thing, but the addition of all the extra add-ons has made this bill a complicated and tedious on to say the least. This bill also costs a great deal of money, which is something that the US is known for being bad to managing. The Goverment needs to stop spending and needs to focus on the basics.

The Tea Party movement has been gaining momentum since it's inception in 2009. I am most impressed that it is not associated with any political party, but is truly a grassroots movement of Americans who are not satisfied with the current path that our country is headed. We just want our voices to be heard by those who were elected to represent "We The People".

Gas prices has been a big deal in this society today. Everyday they seem to go higher and higher. It's a big deal because most people can't afford to spend money on gas all the time. It's every three days that im back at the gas station filling up my tank half way because the prices are to high. If they would just lower the prices I bet you that more people would come and it would be a great way to earn more money. So I do think gas prices are a big thing in the society and needs to be lowered right away.

My mom is an Investigator for the State of Georgia who handles welfare fraud. This is becoming more prominate because of the economy. The rules and regulations of the State Welfare System has changed to make it easier for a client to misinterpret the truth. My mom's agency has already established over twelve million dollars for FY10 in fraud claims. The integrity of this program needs to be updated or there will not be any help for those who really need it during these difficult times.

"Federalism" is a political concept where a group is bound together by covenant with a governing representative head - think the U.S. states, who all (are supposed to be able to) regulate their own local gov't with little interference from the big guys in D.C., but still answer to the White House when it comes to certain issues. The real role of the federal government was to protect those three basics - life, liberty, and your ability to pursue happiness - and everything else was left to the states. At least, that was the idea; yet we still have the government telling states folks aren't allowed to buy health care insurance across state lines... And we see that more and more lately.

Currently our country is torn in two, one is classified as either a Democrat or a Republican. Republicans have their beliefs and Democrats have theirs, but majority of people to agree with every belief in one category. Why should our presidential candidates be separated into two categories. It's like a Blood vs. a Krip (gangs). A presidential electin should be based off of an individuals own personal beliefs not off of the beliefs of a political party they represent.

Immigration in this country is a topic that needs to be addressed. The number of illegal immigrants from all nations in our country that are working for cash is estimated 11 million. A majority of illegals in this country are law abiding citizens. They were just unable to obtain citizenship through the legal system. Many of the requirements to become a US citizen are nearly impossible. If the citizenship test was given to individuals upon graduating high school a majority would fail. Do those that fail deserve to be citizens? I don’t think immediate amnesty should be granted to all immigrants, but I do believe that the arduous process of becoming an immigrant should be amended.
